Critic Reviews

"A pair of warmer, south-facing, biodynamically farmed parcels are the source of this brilliant Sauvignon Blanc. Fermented in deftly handled 85% new wood, it's something of a thiol-driven style, showing quince and passion fruit flavours and top notes of wild flowers. Complex, nuanced, layered stuff. 2023-29"

"The 2021 White Reserve comes from two parcels, one southerly facing with some Koffeeklip, the other a portion of a block more southeast-facing. This is whole bunch and settled naturally, aged in 70% new oak for around ten months without sulfur additions. It has a very understated bouquet, well-defined, with that oak deftly integrated to the point that it is barely noticeable. The palate is well-balanced with good weight, fresh with orange peel and lemon rind, and a touch of stem ginger towards the finish. There’s good weight and persistence; this should age with class."

About The Winery

In 1988, the Reyneke family bought the farm Uitzicht, a 90-acre farm on the ridge of the Polkadraai Hills, with spectacular views of Stellenbosch. Contemporaneously, Johan Reyneke began the lengthy process of the conversion from conventional farming to organic practices to a method of farming which was in accordance with biodynamic principles. Reyneke was the first farm in South Africa to achieve certification by Demeter International, the largest, and arguably, the most widely acknowledged biodynamic accreditation body in the world.

The farm produces several ranges of wines including Reserve, Biodynamic, Organic, and Vinehugger. They also produce a red blend named The Capstone with the proceeds of the wine helping the farm workers and their families.
