About the Wine
Forman 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is impressive, even the color tells the story: deep ruby red and very pretty in its brilliance. This is such a classic Bordeaux blend aromatically. Nothing is obvious but all so integrated. Deep black berry and tobacco seem to mesh with an almost mint-violet complex. A beautiful toasty oak brings all together. There is so much going on aromatically one can only imagine how timewill enhance and develop the aromas into something quite grand indeed. It’s hard to stop inhaling thesefabulous qualities. The flavor does not disappoint; there is so much going on. This is perhaps the richest wine Forman has ever produced, but certainly not awkwardly so. Beautiful fruit flavors combined with incredible texture. This is a tremendously mouth filling wine. A real keeper!

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, heady wine. Even though it was just bottled, the 2019 possesses remarkable textural intensity. A whole range of floral and savory notes open as this statuesque Cabernet shows off its personality. This is an especially rich, bombastic Cabernet from Ric Forman. That is especially evident when tasted next to the 2018.”

“Similarly hued, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley offers a classic, old school Napa Cabernet nose of darker currants, green tobacco, spring flowers, camphor, and new leather. As with the 2018, it plays in a more medium to full-bodied, elegant style, has ripe yet certainly present tannins, and a great finish. The 2019 is more accessible and open than the 2018 and should continue drinking brilliantly for another two decades if stored correctly.”

“Ric Forman’s 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is shaping up to be epic. A wine of unreal precision and energy, the 2019 dazzles with its magnificent purity and class. All the Forman signaturesare there, but the 2019 has a little bit more structure and overall energy. Then again, this is a barrel sample shipped across the country. Time will ultimately be the judge. I can’t wait to taste it from bottle. What a wine!”
About The Winery
Influenced early on by the wines and winemaking practices of the Bordeaux region of France, Ric Forman has consistently sought a similar perfection for the wines of Forman Vineyard. Ric founded Forman Vineyard in 1983 to fulfill his dream of producing, as a sole proprietor, small quantities of classically made Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1978, after a 3-year search of Napa Valley for the perfect location, Ric purchased the current winery/vineyard site, which is perched on the ridge at the base of Howell Mountain overlooking the town of St. Helena. Overall, Ric Forman grows his grapes on 88.5 acres of land split between three different parcels, each one planted to the four Bordeaux varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. These locations each contribute their subtle differences to the wine, the whole of which is a synergy of complexity. Thus, with a wonderfully situated vineyard and deliberately planned cellar, Ric is fulfilling his dream and is constantly vigilant in personally making sure that each step is without compromise in the pursuit of producing the finest quality possible from his estate.
