“The 2011 Climens has a more floral bouquet with yellow flowers, honeysuckle, and light almond scents. Well defined though, it seems to have less botrytis than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with a tangy, marmalade-tinged entry, viscous and quite concentrated with a dab of ginger on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting. - Neal Martin”

“The 2011 Climens has a fresh, lifted, mineral-driven bouquet that has closed down a little. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut, and freshness. A lively, tensile finish, with hints of stem ginger that linger on the aftertaste. This is drinking beautifully. Tasted at the Climens vertical at the château in April 2022.”
About The Winery
The exceptionally distinguished Château Climens is classified as a 1er Cru Classé and known as the 'Lord of Barsac'. Its history dates to the 16th century, and only six families have owned the estate from its origins. This is a rare occurrence which explains why its surface area in a continuous single vineyard has practically remained unchanged since the date of its creation. At Château Climens, only the Semillon grape variety is used. Thanks to the limestone terroir of Climens, the estate is able to produce not only unique sweet wines but also exceptional dry white wines.
