Each state has its own laws defining how alcoholic beverages reach its borders and until local shipping laws change we cannot ship to all states. We do not currently ship to AZ, AL, AR, DE, HI, KY, MS, NH, RI, UT. We apologize for any inconvenience.
If you live in one of these states, there are options. If you have a friend or family member in a neighboring state, especially one who you may be visiting soon, we are happy to ship your order to their address. Secondly, we would be happy to ship your order direct to a FedEx or UPS store location in a nearby state where we are legally able to ship for you to pick-up.
We are here to help and are happy to answer any questions you may have in order to get wine to your front door…or a front door near you.
How we ship?
Most orders can be shipped 2-14 days after they are placed. You can choose your mode of shipping and request a specific delivery date during the checkout process.
All quarterly Allocation offers are shipped directly from the cellars and can take as long as 3 months to arrive at your front door.
Please note: Federal law requires that someone of at least 21 years of age sign for all wine shipments. If no adult is home at the time of delivery, FedEx or UPS is obliged to return the wine to its local warehouse and will reschedule delivery. We recommend you ship to a business address if possible, delivery usually takes place in the mid-morning and can be signed for by any adult on the premises
Pristine Provenance... what is it & why is it important?
Pristine Provenance
When looking for a bottle of wine, the first focus is usually on grape varietal, region, price, and perhaps vintage or producer if you are looking for something specific. But often overlooked is one of the MOST IMPORTANT details, Pristine Provenance.
“Provenance” is the most important concept in the fine wine market, a catch all term referring to a wine’s genuineness and how well it has been stored. With the growing abundance of fake wines in recent years it is now essential that consumers ask about a wine’s Provenance. Family Vineyards Direct is proud to source all our wines directly from the winery where they were crafted and we ship directly from the winery cellars to your front door. Our wineries hold the bottles until they are purchased, avoiding any opportunities for fraud or improper storage.
“Pristine” is an industry definition of a bottle of wine that indicates the wine is in its original condition and unspoiled. No leakage, no markings or cuts of any kind on labels or capsules and a specific measurement of liquid in the neck of both Burgundy and Bordeaux style bottles. Wines are living, breathing things, developing more character as they age. To ensure the fullest potential of development, they need to evolve in optimum conditions, which transport can often threaten in the forms of Heat & Light.
Heat - We ship every order in temperature-controlled vehicles (with digital thermometers located inside the shipping containers) and check weather patterns for heat waves and storms to ensure no case is ever left in an extreme temperature environment.
Light is also a nemesis of wine and prolonged exposure can cause damage to a wine’s color. The green glass common to most wine bottles helps to combat light damage but there is no saving a wine left to languish on a sunny retail store shelf. Family Vineyards Direct sources all wines directly from the winery and you can rest assured that your wine has never befallen such a fate.
