PEREGRINE MÉTHODE TRADITIONELLE FROM NEW ZEALAND
How often have you browsed the shelves at your local wine store and come across bubbles from New Zealand? I would venture to say, not very often – and reasonably so because the Kiwi’s keep all of it for themselves! Well, 
a few bottles have managed to ‘sneak out’ of the country and they are impatient to tell the world how PHENOMENAL they are! Grown in Central Otago, the world’s southernmost winegrowing region, this blockbuster, is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay produced in the same method as traditional Champagne.
Bottoms-up Line: Drinks like thorough-bread, priced like a pony. Bubbles from the bottom of the world capture the Triple Crown.

Wine Rule #467: To label a bottle of bubbles as ‘Champagne’ it must be grown, produced, and bottled in the actual region of Champagne. But savvy wine drinkers who know the code-word ‘Crémant’ can drink bubbles made like Champagne as an affordable alternative. “Crémant,” meaning
“wines made in the Champagne method but falling outside boundaries of Champagne region” can be used in eight specific regions throughout France, and Burgundy is one of them! Tucked away in a small hamlet in the heart of the Loire, the Amirault family has been tending the “Garden” for over 180 years, passing down vineyards’ secrets and techniques from father .

GRADIS’CIUTTA ‘SINEFINIS REBOLIUM’ FROM SLOVENIA/ITALY
This sparkler was too tantalizing for me to pass up! Not only is it made from odd-ball grape variety Ribolla Gialla, but it has dual-citizenship – hailing from vineyards that straddle the Italy/Slovenia border! “Ree-bohllah jahl-lah” or Rebula
as the Slovenians call it, is an ancient grape variety native to the Alpine foothills of this region since Roman Times. Shifting borders following WWII have complicated winemaking a bit, but the friendship and dedication of Italian winemaker Robert Princic and Slovenian winemaker Matiaz Cetrtic defies boundaries and keeps this FANTASTIC project rolling forward.
Bottoms-up Line: A wine without borders, there is nothing complicated about drinking this literal ray of sunshine in a glass!
