Discover Bubbles

Hello! Jess here, your personal Sommelier Concierge. Discover: Bubbles is off-to-the-races and ready to go for any occasion. Take-a-look below at why these six sparklers, from all over the world, have been singled out as the-best-of-the-best!

PEREGRINE MÉTHODE TRADITIONELLE FROM NEW ZEALAND

How often have you browsed the shelves at your local wine store and come across bubbles from New Zealand? I would venture to say, not very often – and reasonably so because the Kiwi’s keep all of it for themselves! Well, a few bottles have managed to ‘sneak out’ of the country and they are impatient to tell the world how PHENOMENAL they are! Grown in Central Otago, the world’s southernmost winegrowing region, this blockbuster, is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay produced in the same method as traditional Champagne.

Bottoms-up Line: Drinks like thorough-bread, priced like a pony. Bubbles from the bottom of the world capture the Triple Crown.

 J. DE VILLEBOIS ‘MONTS DAMNÉS’ SANCERRE

Wine Rule #467: To label a bottle of bubbles as ‘Champagne’ it must be grown, produced, and bottled in the actual region of Champagne. But savvy wine drinkers who know the code-word ‘Crémant’ can drink bubbles made like Champagne as an affordable alternative. “Crémant,” meaning “wines made in the Champagne method but falling outside boundaries of Champagne region” can be used in eight specific regions throughout France, and Burgundy is one of them! Domaine Michel Briday always over delivers and the team’s vision is simple yet impactful: respect the vineyards and their unique terroirs, practice minimal intervention in winemaking and produce wines with explosive fruit, freshness and minerality.

Bottoms-up Line: Now who wouldn’t want to drink a bottle of that?!

DOMAINE XAVIER & AGNÈS AMIRAULT CRÉMANT DE LOIRE

“The Loire Valley, dubbed the “Garden of France,” is a picturesque countryside of rolling orchards and vineyards, dotted with extravagant, moated castles in-between. Like Burgundy, it is one of the eight regions in France authorized to produce Crémant wines. Tucked away in a small hamlet in the heart of the Loire, the Amirault family has been tending the “Garden” for over 180 years, passing down vineyards’ secrets and techniques from father . to son for generations. Xavier Amirault, a masterful winemaker & dedicated biodynamic expert, and his wife Agnès are the current generation farming the walled “Clos des Quarterons” vineyard. Composed of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, this bottle of bubbles is a unique and refreshingly different effervescent experience

Bottoms-up Line: Perfect for a King’s table or the front porch swing.

GRADIS’CIUTTA ‘SINEFINIS REBOLIUM’ FROM SLOVENIA/ITALY

I say Riesling, you say SWEET. Stop it, please! Perception is usually reality and unfortunately for Riesling, the Blue Nun fad in the 1970’s cemented Riesling’s sweet-style reputation in stone. But Riesling is a lady with many sides to her “The Loire Valley, dubbed the “Garden of France,” is a picturesque countryside of  rolling orchards and vineyards, dotted with extravagant, moated castles in-between. GRADIS’CIUTTA ‘SINEFINIS REBOLIUM’ FROM SLOVENIA/ITALY

This sparkler was too tantalizing for me to pass up! Not only is it made from odd-ball grape variety Ribolla Gialla, but it has dual-citizenship – hailing from vineyards that straddle the Italy/Slovenia border! “Ree-bohllah jahl-lah” or Rebula as the Slovenians call it, is an ancient grape variety native to the Alpine foothills of this region since Roman Times. Shifting borders following WWII have complicated winemaking a bit, but the friendship and dedication of Italian winemaker Robert Princic and Slovenian winemaker Matiaz Cetrtic defies boundaries and keeps this FANTASTIC project rolling forward.

Bottoms-up Line: A wine without borders, there is nothing complicated about drinking this literal ray of sunshine in a glass!

DELAMOTTE BRUT BLANC DE BLANCS NV CHAMPAGNE

They’re called “classics” for a reason… No matter what their genre, whether it’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” The Beatles, Fried Chicken or Champagne (a KILLER pairing btw), classics are time-honored standardbearers built to last. Applied as the universal term for “Bubbly” as well as the go-to beverage for celebrating, Champagne is, was, and continues to be the Audrey Hepburn of the wine world. As a region, method or wine style, it is timeless. Champagne Delamotte, founded in 1760 and now the sister house to Champagne Salon, embodies every aspect of timeless classic and is a must for collectors and beginners alike. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this Blanc de Blancs has withstood the test of time to please generation after generation of bubblelovers and is sure to exceed your every expectation.

Bottoms-up Line: Pop, pour, repeat.

DELAMOTTE BRUT ROSÉ NV CHAMPAGNE

“I drink Champagne when I am happy and when I am sad. Sometimes I drink it when I am alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory. I trifle with if I’m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it – unless I’m thirsty.” - Lily Bollinger

Lily Bollinger’s witty pièce de résistance set the stage for Champagne to be one of the most celebrated beverages in the world. And
I, for one, am TRULY grateful! We saved the be of Chardonnay for good measure. st for last with Champagne Delamotte’s Brut Rosé. One of the five oldest Champagne houses, Delamotte has outdone themselves with this exquisitely crafted Rosé composed primarily of Pinot Noir with a pinch of Chardonnay for good measure.

Bottoms-up Line: Breakfast, Lunch, Tea or Supper; perfect anytime, day or night, with or without friends.

My mouth is watering even as I speak. I hope yours is too! Cheers & Bottoms-up!
