“The 1997 Miles Madeira is an utterly sensational bottling now at the thirty three year mark by winemaker Francisco Albuquerque. Showing deeper aromatics than the ’95, tar and menthol notes mingle with salted toffee and nutty undertones of the wine. The palate shows incredible freshness, viscosity and salty terroir. Gobs of mouth-watering acidity hit you on the attack with quince, salted Marcona almond, sour cherry, honeydew melon and toffee flavors. Get ready for the exceedingly long finish. Drink 2020-2030v.”

"Offers tantalizing sweet hints of caramel and dried pear, but this stays racy and taut overall, with enticing green tea, bergamot, quince and green almond notes. The long finish lingers prettily. Drink Now."
About The Winery
The firm that was eventually to become Miles Madeira was originally known as Rutherford & Grant, established on the island of Madeira in 1814. Over the years as the business was passed down from generation to generation, Miles Madeira became one of the most respected brands on the island. Today, Miles is part of the Blandy family's Madeira Wine Company and is synonymous with excellent Madeira wine made from the Tinta Negra grape variety on the rich and diverse terroirs of this volcanic island.
