Critic Reviews

"Hamilton Russell only produces two wines from their 52-acre estate. A bright silver/yellow hue, the 2021 Chardonnay Maple Grove Vineyard is a little shy on opening, then reveals zesty aromas of dusty cedar, lemon zest, green apples, and saline. Medium-bodied and refreshing, it’s clean and mouthwatering and a classic Chardonnay from the region that offers a lot of pleasure now or over the coming 6-8 years."

" This outstanding new Chardonnay comes from the Maple Grove Vineyard which is a 655-acre former Christmas-tree farm located southwest of Monmouth, Oregon. This is very fresh and nicely textured with lemon rind, green melon and cashew nut flavors alongside salty undertones on the palate. Enjoy now and over the next eight years. Drink 2023-2031"

"Precise and refined, with handsome green apple and citrus flavors accented by lemon verbena and spices. Drink now. 274 cases made."

About The Winery
Hamilton Russell Vineyards in South Africa developed an international reputation over 40 vintages for unusually restrained, classically styled Pinot Noir, with deep structure and spice balancing fruit opulence. Hamilton Russell Oregon aims to express this stylistic philosophy with the very best Willamette Valley fruit - showcasing the restrained classicism of great European Pinot Noir and the bright purity of Oregon fruit. In 2020, with the release of two site-specific Hamilton Russell Oregon Pinot Noirs from the applauded Eola Amity Hills and Ribbon Ridge appellations, Anthony and Olive Hamilton Russell expanded their reach to the frontier of Burgundian-style winemaking in the New World. While the Hamilton Russell team brings with them years of experience and know-how to the burgeoning Oregon wine industry, they see their Oregon project as a great learning opportunity, which should ultimately inform the quality and styling of all their wines.
