Critic Reviews

"Like a prima ballerina, this elegant Champagne shows effortless precision and grace. The lacy mousse carries a layered range of creamed apple, yellow plum, pickled ginger and lemon curd flavors, aligned with more subtle hints of rich vanilla-infused pastry cream and brioche. Long and creamy, with a succulent quality to the well-cut acidity and a mineral-driven finish of smoke, chalk and oyster shell. Drink now through 2038. —A.N."

"The Delamotte 2018 Blanc de Blancs is showing well today, evoking a gourmand, complex bouquet of pastry, almonds, ripe orchard fruits, spices and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied, layered and chiseled, it’s enveloping and round with a fleshy core of fruit, though not as fleshy as the 2012, concluding with a tense and long finish."

"Subtle aromas of apple pie, lime, white flowers and reductive flint. Medium body, with some phenolics that frame the wine nicely. Flavors of bitter lemon, lemon and a hint of brioche. A little short now. Better in a year or two."

"The 2018 Brut Blanc de Blancs is a blend of fruit from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Oger, Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry, six villages in the Côte des Blancs. Crushed rocks, mint, slate, lemon peel and green pear lend notable freshness. Like most wines in this vintage, the Blanc de Blancs is airy and medium-bodied in structure, but it shows lovely tension and fine balance. There's plenty of Delamotte class, in an understated style. Dosage is 6 grams per liter."

About The Winery
When François Delamotte - a vineyard owner in Reims - founded the House in 1760, could he ever have imagined that his champagne would still be gracing our tables three centuries later? Hidden away in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Delamotte continues the tradition started by its founder. Champagnes produced with bold simplicity. They owe their subtlety to the Côte des Blancs. This terroir draws forth a rich balance from the powerful, airy Chardonnays.

Well-reputed among sommeliers and wine enthusiasts, the champagnes from Delamotte are known for their consistency, delicacy and exceptional character. For over 260 years, the team has been developing four different cuvées, a small range that gives amateurs and experts alike a clear understanding of the art of champagne. The Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Blancs vintage, Brut and Rosé are quintessentiel champagne wines.

From Cramant to Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, through Avize and Oger : all the grapes are found in the Côte des Blancs. Its location is one of Delamotte's richest assets. The chalky soil, the flora and the sloping vineyards give the grapes their exceptional character, delivering delicate, consistent champagnes. Championing this exceptional terroir, drawing the best from it while maintaining absolute respect for the vines and the environment - that's what Delamotte is all about.
